About Hatha Yoga
|
Hatha is ideal for beginners...
|
|
Hatha is a gentle form of yoga, ideal for beginners, children, those with physically debilitating conditions
and those who are starting yoga later in life. It is as challenging as the individual wants it to be on the day and in the
moment.Hatha yoga is an ideal activity to do in the park on a lovely sunny day!
In Sanskrit, yoga is often translated
as ‘union'- the union of mind, body and spirit in a particular moment.
Students work on a yoga mat, or
blanket or directly on the floor. Track suit bottoms and a loose top are ideal clothing. No other equipment is needed.

Practising yoga has many
benefits...
|
|
There are many benefits to practising yoga, ideally on a regular basis.
Yoga is a gentle practice
which encourages the body to heal itself. By working into asanas (postures) whilst concentrating on the breath, the mind becomes
still and calm. Stresses of everyday life lose the distorted perspective we often put on things close to us. We use the asanas
to stretch the body and the mind.
Asana practice helps increase flexibility within the body. Working muscles gently
means it is quite difficult to hurt the body - if you listen to what it is telling you!
- Yoga
can help us to sleep better
- Yoga can help us to feel more relaxed with our lives and selves
- Yoga can help to develop concentration
- Learning to breathe better helps the whole body
to function better and to feel more energised
- The practice of yoga helps us to enjoy life to
the full
In many cases, where an individual suffers from a debilitating condition, whether
short or long term, yoga can help that individual breathe more easily and deal with their condition in a more positive way.
This in turn can often help with managing the condition, particularly for conditions such as MS and ME.
Yoga is not a miracle worker! As with anything, you get from it what you put in. It can have a profound
effect on all our lives.
